In the frame of the 16-Day Global Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence, the Kakheti Regional Development Foundation (KRDF) organized a conference in Akhmeta -“Women in the Region – Achievements and Challenges”.
During the event, a kind of summary report on the work of the organization in the field of women’s rights was presented to the audience. Activities against gender-based violence in recent years were discussed, including the Kakheti Regional Development Foundation’s (KRDF) experience in working on women’s rights, the latest situation and statistics in the country and the region.
The conference was attended by women’s rights activists, gender-based civil society organizations, embassies and local government officials. The event was held in a hybrid format with both face-to-face interaction and platform zoom.
During the event, the Kakheti Regional Development Foundation announced a new initiative to establish an annual award for Barbara Eristavi-Jorjadze, who was 19th-century Georgian public figure in the field of women’s education and equality, in the frame of the initiative women’s rights activists in the Kakheti region will be awarded annually.
The Barbara Eristavi-Jorjadze Annual Award was given for the first time this year to Ida Bakhturidze – an active defender of women’s rights in the Kakheti region, and beyond.
During the event, the Kakheti Regional Development Foundation awarded a member of the Pankisi Women’s Council, Eter Tsikhesashvili, for her outstanding contribution to the empowerment of Pankisi women and awarded her with the title of Pankisi Women Supporter.
