The situation in the Abastumani forest is under control. The fire spots had been monitored with thermal drones throughout the night, – states the Emergency Situations Agency.
There is a field camp set up by the Emergency Situations Agency in the Abastumani borough, in Adigeni Municipality. The fire which erupted in the forest has been localized and is under full control. The liquidation works started on 13 June and continued throughout the day.
The fire spots had been monitored with thermal drones throughout the night. The manpower of 25 firefighters worked directly in the forest massive. The active firefighting works restarted at the dawn.
“The information about the erupted fire was registered at the Public Safety Management Center 112 on 13 June, at 14:00 o’clock.
There was manpower of 65 firefighters mobilized on the site. Two Border Police helicopters were involved in the process. The helicopters took off 13 times overall and poured 26 tons of water on the fire spots.
The fire was spotted on the lower layers of the pine forests and logs. The manpower from Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo-Kartli was mobilized on the spots in the short time and firefighting works were launched”, – it is said in the statement.
